10 Things you need to know before you travel to Bangladesh

10 things you need to know before you travel to Bangladesh 1. Where is Bangladesh have you heard of Bangladesh? So, Bangladesh is in South-Central Asia, bordering India and Myanmar and, why did I go to Bangladesh? well, I went to travel to places that people don’t usually travel to and to show you guys a different side of the world. Number 2: Population the population of Bangladesh is 163 million that is one the most densely populated places on this planet and I’m pretty sure in Dhaka at some point we met every single person Number 3: The people The people of Bangladesh are its biggest asset they are warm, they are kind, they are welcoming, they want to come up and talk to you they want to come up and take photos with you the people are so kind apart from online did you see what this guy just called me? that was a bit extreme don’t you think? BUT, apart from that guy and this guy, and this guy everyone in Bangladesh is so kind! “Bangladesh is very nice, we are very proud of Bangladesh” Number 4: Dhaka The capital of Bangladesh, home to nearly 19 million people it is the craziest, most fast paced city I have ever been to in my life! have you ever been stuck in traffic as a pedestrian because in Dhaka you cannot move, the amount of people, cars, the amount of tuk tuks everywhere it’s polluted, it’s overcrowded, it’s absolutely crazy, but it is fascinating and you absolutely must a few days in Dhaka but, don’t stay for too long, your lungs are going to need some air! Number 5: Travel around Bangladesh moving on from Dhaka, get on a plane, hop on a plane head to one of Bangladesh’s ]eight major regions (called divisions) you’ve got Cox Bazar ( Chittagong region) the longest beach in the entire world or you can go and look for those endangered Bengali tigers, who’s roar can be heard from 3 kilo meters away and then you’ve got Shylhet; the rice fields, you’ve got the tea paddies. you’ve got the biggest mangrove in the world rives, boats, absolutely everything in Bangladesh It’s completely flat, and it even has 6 seasons compared to the rest of us that just have 4 Number 6: Stay connected get yourself a sim card as soon as you land in Dhaka airport you can’t actually get sim cards anywhere else – well, not that I saw – around Bangladesh grab yourself a sim card, you’re going to have to fill out a lot of passport, give over your passport and some money ($10) and I don’t know what happens to that paper work, but get one, because once you are in the city, once you’re in Bangladesh it is quite hard to stay connected any other way, other than if you have a sim card there’s no 3G in Bangladesh so you’ll have to deal with 4G Number 7: Visas yes, it’s pretty easy to get into Bangladesh especially if you are from the UK or Europe however, you will have to que for, 2 hours, while you are at the airport filling out 4 forms. They ask you questions that even you don’t know yourself and they don’t ask you for $50, they ask you for $51. So make sure you’ve got that $1 note it can only be paid in USD, and you just have to wait, just have to wait your turn it’s going to take a long time. Don’t expect to be anywhere fast when you are in Dhaka Number 8 The most common word you will hear in Bangladesh, as a tourist is: SELFIE people will come from everywhere, every directions, running up to you and asking for a selfie! people are so kind, and so intrigued what you are doing in their country, they can’t help but want to take a selfie they will also somehow find you on Facebook and post that selfie to your wall! people are more than happy to take photos with you and you can also ask to take photos with them But, people seldom smile when it comes to photography in Bangladesh, and it’s not because they are rude, it’s because they are taught it’s a sign of immaturity so, don’t worry if someone is not smiling, inside they are so happy to see you! “always selfies” “this is a nice one”
“thank you” “Ok, I’ve finished my selfies, but I’m pretty sure Tom is still engaged in some more!” 9 of the top 10 things to know before you travel to Bangladesh is: you will not get scammed. You will not get scammed in Bangladesh! The people have no intentions of scamming you, of taking money off you, of charging you a higher prices they do not have this in their blood, they want to help you, they want to show you the best and they want to charge you the same as anyone else I don’t know about you but there is not many countries in the world that still don’t scam tourists. “I feel so safe in Bangladesh too, everyone is asking about safety and people are like ‘be safe'” “oh, if you guys came here you would know you feel completely safe. People are just intrigued “they are not looking to do anything to you or harm you in anyway, they just want to talk to you, and say hello” 10: Come before the tourists do! although Bangladesh has163 million people only 125,000 tourists come most years! “no tourists anywhere here, we have this whole tea plantation to ourselves” “This is just another reason to come to Bangladesh” The old tourism slogan of Bangladesh used to be “Come before the tourists do” and I could not agree more! Bangladesh has got so much to offer and it’s so undiscovered. Travellers, tourists, blogger are not going there. but, you’re missing out! Come before the tourists do give Bangladesh a chance and tell the world what an amazing country it is! “my favourite thing to do in Bangladesh is just walk” “so much happens around you” “these guys are running for a selfie!” “Bangladesh. India, Bangladesh, India” “made it to India” “if I walk they walk, if I stop they stop.”

  1. You should visit Bangladesh during the biggest Muslim festivals. Your travel will be more experienced, remarkable and fantastic. I would suggest you to visit village if you have good Bangladeshi friend. The reason is you need to feel and realise Bangladeshi culture with heart. 8. I just came back from Bangladesh 3 days ago from a short holiday. I can totally say dhaka is definitely really hectic, busy, vibrant and got a lot of flyovers. Dhaka has really big shopping malls all over the place and u can access to pretty much all the needs. It even got food panda a food delivery service which I didn't expect to see. It got a lot of variety of restaurants and places to eat. People especially who are providing service are very helpful and friendly. But ofc then bangladesh is very polluted as there are many constructions taking place everywhere since its a developing country. So I did prefer to stay more indoors than outdoor in dhaka but then there are tons of hidden gems to visit outside of the city.

  16. Bangladesh is one of the beautiful country in Asia, full of fun loving people. The beauty is not in the city. You have to travel to the country side to get the stories of Bangladesh. The land of river and land of hope eating people.

Bangladesh is in South Asia zone, mostly surrounded by India, bordering Myanmar in the southeast and the Bay of Bengal to the south side. The country is known as country of riverland it is primarily a low-lying plain of about 144,000 km2, situated on deltas of large rivers flowing from the Himalayas. It’s fertile and mostly flat farmland and, with the exception of Chittagong Hill Tracts, rarely exceeds 10 meters above sea level, making it dangerously susceptible to a rise in sea level.

The national language of Bangladesh is Bengali (Bangla) and is spoken everywhere, English is the foreign (2nd) language. It's an Indo-Aryan language derived from Prakit, Pali and Sanskrit which is written in its own script. Many Bangladeshis understand only limited English Language such as basic affirmatives, negatives, and some numbers. Some offices are using English as a 2nd language. Learning a few Bengali words ahead of your trip will prove very useful in the area.
